Mountain Biking

Madarao is more than just a snow resort. The mountainous region is full of great trails and back roads that lead down the mountain from Madarao village – this all means amazing cycling for those that enjoy picturesque bike rides.

The best time for cycling is typically around the end of April.

From the Buddha Bus Stop Downhill to Iiyama Station, an easy 12 km ride of downhill terrain follows the old highway to Iiyama along the Kiyo River. For those wanting to take it easy, you can catch a bus back up the hill to Madarao or ride back for those looking for a challenge. For more great bike trails, check out this local blog.

Snowshoeing tour

Snowshoes make it fun and easy to walk through snow. Snowshoeing Tours are great way to experience. The Madarao snowshoeing program provides everything from a basic course
to genuine snowshoe trekking with a mountain guide.

ZIPLINE ADVENTURE

Take to the skies with Zipline Adventure.

Operating between late April to late October, Zipline Adventure is an exhilarating and exciting way to experience Madarao’s great outdoors.

With 11 zipline courses in Madarao Kogen, the adventure park caters for groups of up to 10 people at a time.

Golf

If hitting the green is more your style, the region offers several excellent golf courses.

Madarao Kogen Country Club is a dynamic Nagano golf course rich in strategic characteristics and developed over an immense site of 950,000 square metres. Set amongst the five famous peaks, including Togakushi, Kurohime, Madarao and Myoko, you are surrounded 360° by nature as you play.

Shinano Golf Club is a newer Nagano golf course, celebrating its 20th year in 2017. The club runs regular championships. It is a standard 72 par over 7,029 yards.

Finally, set amongst the natural landscape and canoe birch trees of the grand north Shinano and Madarao plateau, Madarao Tokyu Golf Club enjoys beautiful greens on all of its 18 holes.
